Thank you for the reception you gave our last issue. Ronnie Milsap has a lot of fans in our area and I was surprised to meet several folks who went to school with him in Young Harris. Hopefully you all got to see him at the Cumming Fair. Fall is here. The nights are going down into the 40s and the leaves are starting to change. One of the things I really like about this time of year is being able to turn off the air conditioning and open the windows. That cool crisp air feels so good, especially at night. The leaves have turned more in the Blairsville area. Due to the dry weather we’ve had, I was afraid we wouldn’t have a pretty fall, but we will. The leaves may fall earlier, but for a time they will be beautiful. I know it seems a little early, but we would like to wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving. There is just something cozy and homey about this holiday. You are probably starting to plan for that day. You will be getting the dining room ready—because if you are like most of us, you only use it on special days. Pull Grandma’s or Aunt Sally’s china out of the cabinet and polish the silver—does anyone still use that stuff? You start making mental notes about the food. Of course, there will be turkey and dressing, made-from-scratch mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, green bean casserole (pass me by on that), candied yams, homemade rolls, pumpkin and/or pecan pie, and, around our house, banana pudding. Thanksgiving has always seemed like a family time. With all the happenings of 2008 this will be a good year to gather your loved ones around. Be thankful for what you have. Take time to pray for our country, the current leaders, and the ones to come. Until next month…stay happy.
