Family Fun at Alpine Mini Golf in Helen

Family Fun at Alpine Mini Golf in HelenHappy Birthday to 400 Edition. With this issue we start our eighth year in business. Thanks to our staff, advertisers, writers, readers, our printer, and most of all, the Lord, we have exceeded our expectations of where this magazine would go. Like all businesses in the last three years, we have experienced a huge decrease in sales and profits, but we do our best. All the words of encouragement folks give us keep us getting an issue ready to go to press each month. All of your comments are appreciated.

By the time you read this, school will be out for the summer, and families will be thinking about things to do and places to go. Hopefully this issue will help you find fun entertainment practically in your backyard. With the price of gas, that is a good thing. We have listed many events taking place in our Georgia State Parks, and lots of festivals are starting up. And who would ever tire of seeing our North Georgia waterfalls? Spend some time with your family seeing the wonders of nature around us. We have probably had more requests to repeat the waterfalls feature than for any other feature we have run in the past eight years. Thank you to Jack Anthony for once again allowing us to use his awesome photographs. To see more of Jack’s work, see www. jackanthonyphotography.com.

Don’t forget: June 19 is Father’s Day. Visit your dad if you can, or at least call him and send a card. The day will come when he won’t be there for you. My dad died in 1985 and I would still love to sit down and talk to him. I was one of those Daddy’s girls; he spoiled me and I loved every moment of it. We used to talk for hours, and I’m so glad my daughters all got to be around him. They liked for him to tell them stories about when he was growing up, and with five brothers, there were a lot of stories. He loved his family dearly and we knew we were special because of that. He and my mom instilled that love of family in me, and thankfully I’ve passed it on to my children. I was reading through some poems and saw these lines that say it all. And away down deep in every heart There’s a place that is just for Dad...

 \Until next month…stay happy!
